Professor Albert Scherpbier - Maastricht University, The Netherlands

Professor Scherpbier is Professor of Quality Promotion in Medical Education and Dean of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences and Vice Chair of Maastricht University Medical Centre since May 2011.

His key interests in medical education are quality assurance, professionalisation of medical education, career prospects for medical teachers, involvement of medical students in improving the quality of education, and medical education research. He has published extensively on medical education research. He published more then 300 papers in international peerreviewed journals, 100 papers in national journals and around 70 chapters in books and conference proceedings.

He teaches courses on medical education research for the Maastricht School of Health Professions Education. He supervises national and international PhD students (more then 60 finished). He has been a consultant to medical schools in various countries, including Indonesia, Uganda, Nepal and Ghana.

He has been a driving force for curriculum innovation aimed at promoting integration of basic science and clinical science and teaching in realistic contexts. Professor Scherpbier is also involved in innovations in postgraduate specialist training especially accreditation. In 2008, “Scherpbier 1.0” was published, to convince the Ministry that we need a quality assurance system. In 2015 “ Scherpbier 2.0 “ was published to realise a more simple and less bureaucratic accreditation system. He is also involved in changing the role of Academic Health Centers in the region. “Research and innovation with and for a healthy region”.

Professor Dr. Lambert Schuwirth - Flinders University, Australia

Lambert Schuwirth obtained his MD from Maastricht University. In 1991, he joined the Department of Educational Development and Research there, taking up various roles in student assessment: Chairman of the Inter-university and the Local Progress Test Review Committee, the OSCE Review Committee and the Case-based Testing Committee. Since the early 2000s, he has been Chair of the overall Taskforce on Assessment. He has been advisor on assessment to medical colleges in the Netherlands and the UK. In 2010, he chaired an international consensus group on educational research, the results of which were published in Medical Teacher. Since 2007, he has been a full-professor for Innovative Assessment at Maastricht University – currently as Adjunct. In 2011, he was made a Strategic Professor for Medical Education at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia and is also the Chair of the Flinders University Prideaux Discipline of Clinical Education.

Professor Judy McKimm - Swansea University School of Medicine, UK

Judy’s current role is Director of Strategic Educational Development and Professor of Medical Education in the College of Medicine, Swansea University. From 2011-2014, she was Dean of Medical Education at Swansea and before that worked in New Zealand from 2007-2011, at the University of Auckland and as Pro-Dean, Health and Social Care, Unitec Institute of Technology. Judy initially trained as a nurse and has an academic background in social and health sciences, education and management. She worked at Imperial College London from 1994-2004 and was Director of Undergraduate Medicine from 1998-2004, leading the curriculum development and implementation of a new undergraduate medical programme. In 2004-05, as Higher Education Academy Senior Adviser, she was responsible for developing and implementing the accreditation of professional development programmes and the standards for teachers in HE.

She has worked on over sixty international health workforce, reconstruction and education reform projects for DfID, AusAID, the World Bank and WHO in Central Asia, Portugal, Greece, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Macedonia, Australia and the Pacific. She has been a reviewer and accreditor for the GMC, QAA, the Higher Education Academy and the Academy of Medical Educators for many years. She is programme director for the Leadership Masters at Swansea and Director of ASME’s and AMEE’s international Educational Leadership programmes. She writes and publishes widely on medical education and leadership and runs health professions’ leadership and education courses and workshops internationally. Her most recent books are Global Health (with Brian Nicholson and Ann Allen), Health Care Professionalism at a Glance (with Jill Thistlethwaite), Clinical leadership made easy (with Helen O’Sullivan), Medical Education at a Glance (with Jill Thistlethwaite and Kirsty Forrest), the ABC of Clinical Leadership, 2nd edition (with Tim Swanwick) and Developing reflective practice (with Andy Grant and Fiona Murphy).

Mora Claramita is a professor and head of Department of Medical Education and Bioethics, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing Universitas Gadjah Mada. Her studies are about health provider-patient relationship and teacher-student relationship based on the global cultural dimensions. She is an active family medicine doctor and have professional practice twice a week at UGM clinic. Currently the director of FAIMER Regional Indonesia (FRIENDSHIP) program, the chair of Indonesian College of Health Professions Education and also chair of Indonesian Society of Teachers in Family Medicine.

Ardy Findyartini, Ph.D - Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia

Ardi Findyartini is a medical doctor graduated from Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia (FMUI) in 2002. She completed the doctoral program in Melbourne Medical School Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, The University of Melbourne in 2012. The highlight of her thesis on how clinical reasoning is taught and learned in Australia and Indonesia motivates her to learn further on how best practices in medical education can be implemented contextually. She is currently the Head of Department of Medical Education, the Head of Medical Education Unit and the Coordinator of Medical Education Cluster at Indonesia Medical Education and Research Institute (IMERI) at the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia. She has been teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate program in medical education and mentoring students and graduates in conducting research in medical education. With her team, she’s been very active in conducting workshops for faculty development in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in the FMUI and in other institutions in Indonesia for the past 12 years, and is a nominated panel member for ASPIRE excellence in faculty development since 2014. She authored and co-authored several international publications in peer reviewed journals and conferences. She’s also been involved as the reviewer of national and international medical education journals. Her research area of interest includes clinical reasoning and clinical teaching, inter-professional education, faculty development, curriculum development, and socio-cultural factors underpinning approaches in medical and health professions education.

Diantha graduated as a medical doctor from Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia in 2005, acquired MMedEd title from University of Dundee in 2007 and PhD in the same field from University of Melbourne in 2013. She is now the head of Master in Medical Education Program in Universitas Indonesia and also responsible for the multi- and interprofessional curriculum of Health Sciences Cluster. Since 2018, she is appointed as the vice director of medical education of the Indonesian Medical Education and Research Institute (IMERI). Her research interests are student assessment, reflection and feedback, interprofessional education and collaborative practice, and professionalism development.

Widyandana, MHPE.,Ph.D.,Sp.M- K - Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing Universitas Gadjah Mada

Widyandana (Doni) graduated as a medical doctor from Faculty of Medicine Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2004, acquired MHPE title from Maastricht University, The Netherlands in 2007 and doctoral degree (Ph.D) from the same university in 2011. He is currently a Director of Master in Medical and Health Professions Education (MHPE) Program Faculty of Medicine, Public Health and Nursing Universitas Gadjah Mada and also Chairman of Community and Family Health Care and Inter-professional Education UGM. He often got international awards regarding his research and publication, and also got several Intellectual Property rights for the learning media, guide books, and e-learning platform. His research interests are in the field of medical education, inter-professional education (IPE), community-based education (CBE), clinical skills teaching, and learning resource innovation. As a clinician, he also teaching ophthalmology resident and give health care services as neuro-ophthalmologist consultant.

Rachmadya Nur Hidayah, MD, MSc, PhD is an assistant professor in the Department of Medical Education and Bioethics, the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing Universitas Gadjah Mada (FMPHN UGM). She obtained a master degree in MHPE from Maastricht University in 2012 and a PhD in medical education from the University of Leeds in 2018. She has been working in student assessment, teaching and learning, and innovation in clinical skills simulation, with several research projects and programs implemented in FMPHN UGM.

Dr. Susi Ari Kristina, MPH, Pharmacist is a researcher and lecturer in the Department of Management and Community Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, at the Gadjah Mada University where she has been a faculty member since 2004. Susi had been completed doctoral degree in Social, Economics, and Administrative Pharmacy at Mahidol University, Thailand in 2015. Susi is the instructor for social and economics pharmacy field for undergraduate and graduate curriculum. Her research interest was focus on public health pharmacy issues ranging from the cost of illness study, pharmacy practice, and pharmacy education. Her research articles have been published in international peer-reviewed journals including the topic of burden of diseases related to tobacco in Indonesia and Asian countries, premature mortality costs of tobacco, impact of smoking on treatment costs of diseases in universal health coverage era, quality of life among smokers in Indonesia and effectiveness of pharmacist training in smoking cessation, and OSCE implementation in pharmacy schools in Indonesia.
